Hi, my name’s Tim Maguire. I’ve been a humanist celebrant since 2005, and since then I’ve helped literally hundreds of couples to create unique and inspiring ceremonies to celebrate their love.
I embrace equality and diversity. Love is Love. My values are compassion, kindness and respect, and I promise to live by them openly and generously as we work together to create your ceremony.
I live in Edinburgh but I’m happy to travel all over Scotland. My first language is English, but I can conduct ceremonies in Spanish, French and Italian as well, so your history and heritage can be honoured in the way that means most to you.
I don’t just conduct weddings. I am also the Honorary Humanist Chaplain to both the University of Edinburgh and Napier University. I was the first humanist ever to be invited to address an official government Remembrance Day ceremony, and at least half my time is given to conducting funerals, in which we celebrate love at the end of life.
We can talk more about it when we meet, but to me, humanism is a very simple philosophy that asks us to try to be kind and to try to think for ourselves. And – as you may be realising – there’s no time we need to do that more than when we’re planning the most important day of our lives so let’s have a chat!
